WOODBURY — Assemblyman James Skoufis (D-Woodbury) recently announced $10 million in state funding for two road resurfacing projects in Eastern Orange County.

• This includes $6.1 million to pave and repair 28 miles (round trip) of Route 17 from approximately Arden Road in southern Woodbury through Tuxedo to the Rockland County line.

• The second project includes $4 million for 21.6 miles (round trip) of Route 9W from the Routes 218/293 exit in the town of Highlands to Angola Road in Cornwall.

“Our roads are vital to everyday life,” Skoufis said. “They allow employees to get to work, farmers to sell their produce and friends and family to gather together. This funding helps us make critically needed repairs to Routes 17 and 9W so people in Eastern Orange County can get where they need to go safely and efficiently.”

Earlier this year, Skoufis scoped Route 17 in Tuxedo with local residents Michael Bruno and Michael Coleman in order to share his insights on work that needed to be done. Bruno is redeveloping and revitalizing much of the Route 17 corridor in Tuxedo as well as Sloatsburg.

Skoufis has made rehabilitation of our local infrastructure a top priority and has consistently fought for funding to repair local roads and bridges, including long-overdue renovations at Exit 131 near Woodbury Common as well as repairs to Routes 6, 32, 207 and the Palisades Parkway.
