CENTRAL VALLEY — Drivers are noticing concrete barriers and orange construction signage in place along Routes 17 and 32, a clear sign that the Woodbury transit and economic development hub reconstruction project is taking place.
Traffic on Route 32 is in the process of being temporarily shifted to create an unobstructed work zone and is scheduled to be in effect until the end of 2018.
While the number of existing lanes will remain the same, drivers should allow for additional travel time as lanes or shoulders may be temporarily closed during off-peak hours.
Additionally, the Central Valley Elementary School’s athletic field parking lot will soon be reconstructed. Signs will be placed to indicate when drivers may need to find alternative parking during this period of construction.
Located in the town and village of Woodbury, the Town of Monroe and the Village of Harriman, the Route 17 at Route 32 Exit 131 reconstruction project will feature a diverging diamond interchange. This design is intended to offer improved access to the surrounding schools, retail establishments, highways and local roads and improved travel time and safety.
The project is currently expected to be completed by October 2019.
