SPARKILL — On a very warm and sunny Saturday morning, April 14, the Crusaders traveled to St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill to take on the Vikings of Clarkstown South High School.

The Crusaders entered the game after defeating the Monticello High School Panthers on Friday afternoon by a score of 14-2.

Monroe-Woodbury got things going in the top of the second when Victoria Borowski singled to left and Jen Lawson then hammered her third homerun of the year over the right center field fence to make the score 2-0.

In the top of the fourth the Crusaders struck again when Jessica O’Brien singled then scored on a single by Rebecca Murphy.

Murphy then scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Ashley Scheck to give the Crusaders a 4-0 lead.

The Crusaders added an insurance run in the top of the fifth when Madison McGee pounded a double to the right center field fence and Nicole Palmer drove her in with a double to center to give the Crusaders a 5-0 lead.

Samantha Ryan picked up her fourth win and third shutout on the season, allowing three hits and fanning five.
