Woodbury recycling and shredding events coming up May 11 and 12HIGHLAND MILLS — The Town of Woodbury will hold an electronic recycling event at the Village Highway Department at 24 Route 105 on Friday, May 11 ,from 2 to 5 p.m. for businesses and Saturday, May 12 from 8 a.m. to noon for residents.

Additionally, the town will hold a shredding event at the Village Highway Department on Saturday, May 12 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a three box maximum.

Monroe Garden Club’s plant sale is May 12MONROE — The Monroe Garden Club will hold a plant sale Saturday, May 12, at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Still Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A selection of locally grown annuals, perennials, herbs, deer-resistant plants and container gardens will be available for purchase.

Proceeds will support the club’s beautification efforts within the Monroe and Woodbury communities.

Captain’s Table to host Y fund raiser on May 21MONROE — Fund-raising activities for the South Orange Family YMCA’s 2018 Strong Kids Campaign continues on Monday, May 21, with an “Eat- Drink -Give” event at the Captain’s Table on Route 17M.

The Captain’s Table will donate 10 percent of each check during lunch and dinner to the Y’s Strong Kids Program.

The Strong Kids Program provides scholarship assistance to those who may not be able to financially afford to participate in any of the Y’s programs or services.

“By contributing, you really do change the life of someone right here in our community in a very positive way,” said Michele Bernieri, the Y’s wellness director. “The Captain’s Table is one of many community businesses and groups who recognize the value of this program and we are grateful for its support.”

High School/Middle School Jazz Concert set for May 15CENTRAL VALLEY — The following is a list of upcoming events, programs and meetings within the Monroe-Woodbury School District:

• Smith Clove Kindergarten Festival will be held Monday, May 14, at the High School at 7 p.m.

• The district budget vote and school board elections will be held Tuesday, May 15, at Central Valley Elementary School from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

• High School/Middle School Jazz Concert will be held Tuesday, May 15, at the High School at 7 p.m.

• Elementary Grade 3 concerts will perform on Thursday, May 17, at 7 p.m. at the following locations:

> Central Valley at Central Valley

> North Main at Middle School

> Pine Tree at High School

• Middle School Grades 6-8 May Rec Activity will be held Friday, May 18, from 3 to 6 p.m.

Mother’s Day Breakfast Sale is May 12 at the YMONROE — The South Orange YMCA’s Teen Leaders Club will host a Mother’s Day Breakfast Sale tomorrow, May 12, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Y.

Donations of baked goods, fruits, bagels and other breakfast items are welcome.

The Y’s Teen Leaders Club gives teens the opportunity to make a difference in the community by working together and planning and implementing service activities and volunteering at the Y.

Organizers encouraged community members to stop by and “spend some extra quality time with your mom.”
